Google’s DeepMind announced a sweeping partnership with the UK government to build the country’s first automated AI research laboratory, slated to open in 2026.

This new facility will combine AI and robotics to accelerate experimental science — including materials research for superconductors, semiconductors and clean energy technologies — and give British scientists priority access to advanced AI tools.
