Techietory (“Techietory,” “we,” “us,” or “our“) operates https://techietory.com (the “Site“), including our articles, forum, online compiler, comment and chat features, user profiles, subscriptions, and contact tools (collectively, the “Services“). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights available to you.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use and Forum Rules. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Use.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through the Site and Services, including via our website, forum, online compiler, comment/chat systems, contact forms, newsletter, and subscriptions. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we link to or that integrate with the Site (e.g., Google, social media platforms, payment processors), which have their own privacy policies.
2. Information We Collect

2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Site, we and our third-party partners automatically collect certain information via cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies, including:
- Device & Technical Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, screen resolution, language settings.
- Usage Data: Pages viewed, articles read, time spent on pages, links clicked, referring/exit pages, search queries within the Site, forum activity (threads viewed, votes/reactions, engagement metrics), compiler executions (frequency, duration, language used — not necessarily code content unless needed for abuse detection).
- Approximate Location Data: Inferred from IP address (typically city/region/country level).
- Log Data: Server logs including timestamps, error reports, and request details, retained for security and diagnostic purposes.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Social Login/Sharing: If you register or log in using a third-party account (e.g., Google, GitHub), we receive basic profile information you authorize that provider to share (such as name, email, profile picture).
- Advertising Partners: Aggregated or pseudonymous data from advertising and analytics partners (see Section 5) used to measure ad performance and Site traffic.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
3.1 To Provide and Operate the Services — creating and managing your account and profile; enabling forum posting, comments, chat, and the Compiler; processing subscriptions and payments; responding to contact/support requests.
3.2 To Improve Content and Services — analyzing usage patterns to improve articles, tutorials, forum structure, and Compiler performance; using AI tools (see Section 8) to assist with editing, quality checks, and content improvement.
3.3 To Communicate with You — sending transactional emails (account verification, password resets, subscription confirmations), responding to inquiries, and, where you have opted in, sending our newsletter and product updates.
3.4 For Safety, Security, and Moderation — detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, spam, malicious code execution, and violations of our Terms of Use or Forum Rules; enforcing account suspensions/bans; investigating security incidents.
3.5 For Advertising and Analytics — displaying relevant advertising through Google Ads and measuring Site performance through Google Analytics and related tools (see Section 5); this may include interest-based/personalized advertising where permitted by your consent choices and applicable law.
3.6 For Legal Compliance — complying with applicable law, responding to lawful requests from public authorities, enforcing our Terms of Use, protecting our rights, property, or safety and that of our users or the public, and processing copyright/DMCA complaints.
3.7 Aggregated/De-identified Data — we may create aggregated or de-identified data (which does not identify you) for research, reporting, and analytics purposes, and may share this data without restriction.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK/Similar Jurisdictions)
Where applicable data protection law (such as the GDPR) applies, we process your personal information under the following legal bases:
- Contractual necessity — to provide the Services you request (account, subscription, forum access).
- Consent — for newsletter emails, non-essential cookies, and certain advertising/analytics tracking. You may withdraw consent at any time (Section 10).
- Legitimate interests — for Site security, fraud prevention, service improvement, and core (non-consent-based) analytics, balanced against your rights and interests.
- Legal obligation — where processing is required to comply with the law (e.g., responding to valid legal requests, tax/accounting records for subscriptions).
5. Cookies, Tracking Technologies, and Advertising
5.1 What We Use
We use cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels, SDKs) for:
- Strictly Necessary: Authentication, session management, security (e.g., CSRF protection), load balancing.
- Functional: Remembering preferences (theme, language, forum settings).
- Analytics: Understanding how visitors use the Site, primarily via Google Analytics.
- Advertising: Serving and measuring ads via Google Ads / AdSense and related tools (e.g., Google Site Kit), which may use cookies and device identifiers to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites (interest-based advertising).
5.2 Google Services
We use Google services to operate parts of the Site, including Google Analytics (traffic and usage measurement) and Google Ads/AdSense (advertising). These services may set their own cookies and collect data such as your IP address, browsing behavior on the Site, and interactions with ads, in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy and, where applicable, Google’s Business Data Responsibility policies. You can learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can opt out of personalized Google advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings and the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5.3 Your Cookie Choices
- Where required by law, we display a cookie consent banner allowing you to accept or reject non-essential cookies (analytics/advertising) before they are set.
- You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site (login, forum, Compiler) from functioning properly.
- You can opt out of interest-based advertising generally through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance or Your Online Choices (EU).
- Browser-based “Do Not Track” signals: we currently do not respond to DNT signals due to the lack of an industry standard, but honor opt-out preference signals (e.g., Global Privacy Control) where legally required.
6. The Forum, Comments, and Chat: Public Nature of Content
6.1 Content you post to the Forum, comment sections, public chat, or your public profile (posts, replies, comments, usernames, avatars, code snippets you choose to share) is publicly visible to other users and, in many cases, to the general public and search engines. Do not post information you do not want to be publicly available.
6.2 Even if you delete a post or your account, copies may remain visible for a period of time due to caching, backups, screenshots taken by other users, or replies/quotes made by other users referencing your content.
6.3 We may retain moderation records (including reported content and moderator notes) even after the underlying content is removed, for accountability and legal purposes.
7. The Online Compiler
7.1 Code you write, run, or save using the Compiler is processed on our infrastructure (or that of our infrastructure/hosting sub-processors) to execute and return results to you.
7.2 We do not use privately-run code for advertising purposes. We may log metadata about Compiler executions (timestamps, language, resource usage, error rates) for performance monitoring, abuse detection, and security purposes.
7.3 Code you explicitly choose to make public (shared snippets, forum posts) is treated as User Content under Section 6 above and our Terms of Use.
7.4 Do not submit confidential information, credentials, API keys, personal data of third parties, or regulated data into the Compiler. We are not responsible for losses arising from data submitted to the Compiler in violation of this notice.
8. AI Tools
8.1 We use AI tools to assist our editorial team in improving content quality (e.g., editing suggestions, summarization, consistency checks, translation assistance) for articles and other Techietory Content. Where such tools process user-submitted content (e.g., to summarize or moderate forum posts/comments for quality or safety purposes), this processing falls under the purposes described in Section 3.2 and 3.4.
8.2 We take reasonable steps to avoid using your personal information to train third-party AI models beyond what is necessary to provide the specific AI-assisted feature, and to select AI providers with appropriate data protection commitments. Where we use third-party AI providers, your data may be processed by them as our sub-processor, subject to contractual safeguards.
8.3 If we offer AI-powered features directly to users (e.g., within the Compiler or Forum), inputs you provide to those features may be processed by our AI providers to generate a response, subject to the same safeguards described above.
9. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information as follows:
9.1 Service Providers/Processors — hosting providers, cloud infrastructure, email delivery services, payment processors, customer support tools, analytics and advertising partners (Section 5), and AI tool providers (Section 8), each acting under contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
9.2 Other Users — content you post publicly (forum posts, comments, profile information) is visible to other users and the public as described in Section 6.
9.3 Legal and Safety Reasons — where we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, valid legal process, or government request; to enforce our Terms of Use or Forum Rules; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Techietory, our users, or the public; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
9.4 Business Transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality arrangements.
9.5 With Your Consent — for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection, with your consent.
9.6 “Sale” or “Sharing” under U.S. State Laws. Some U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., California’s CCPA/CPRA) define “sale” or “sharing” broadly to include disclosures to advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising via cookies/pixels (such as Google Ads). To the extent our use of such advertising technologies constitutes a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable law, you may opt out as described in Section 10 and Section 5.3.
10. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction/Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information (many can be self-managed via your profile/account settings).
- Deletion/Erasure — request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to legal retention requirements and the public-content caveats in Section 6.
- Portability — request a machine-readable copy of certain personal information you provided to us.
- Restriction/Objection — request that we restrict or object to certain processing, including objecting to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
- Withdraw Consent — where processing is based on consent (e.g., newsletter, non-essential cookies), withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Opt Out of Sale/Sharing/Targeted Advertising — as described in Sections 5.3 and 9.6, applicable in certain U.S. states (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others with similar laws).
- Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint — with your local data protection authority (if you are in the EEA/UK) or applicable regulator.
How to Exercise Your Rights: Contact us at privacy@techietory.com or via our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Authorized Agents: If permitted by applicable law, you may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf; we may require proof of authorization and independent verification of your identity.
11. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including:
- Account Data: For as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period thereafter to allow for account recovery and to comply with legal obligations.
- Forum/Comment/Chat Content: Indefinitely as part of the public record of the Site, unless you request deletion (subject to Section 6.2) or we remove it for policy violations.
- Compiler Logs/Metadata: Typically retained for a limited period for performance and security purposes, unless retained longer for an active investigation.
- Subscription/Payment Records: As required by applicable tax, accounting, and financial regulations.
- Support/Contact Communications: For a reasonable period to handle follow-ups and maintain records of resolved issues.
- Security/Log Data: Typically retained for a limited rolling period, subject to extension for security investigations.
When information is no longer needed, we securely delete, anonymize, or aggregate it.
12. Data Security
12.1 We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and, where appropriate, at rest;
- Hashing of account passwords (we never store passwords in plain text);
- Access controls restricting internal access to personal information on a need-to-know basis;
- Sandboxing and resource isolation for Compiler code execution;
- Regular security monitoring, logging, and periodic review of our security practices;
- Vendor due diligence for third-party service providers who process data on our behalf.
12.2 No Guarantee. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
12.3 Breach Notification. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
12.4 Your Role. You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and for using a strong, unique password. Notify us immediately at security@techietory.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
13. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your country of residence, including countries that may have different data protection laws. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection.
14. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from such children without verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the applicable minimum age, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child in violation of this Policy, please contact us at privacy@techietory.com.
15. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site contains links to and integrations with third-party services, including social media platforms, payment processors, and embedded content. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service you interact with, including:
- Google Privacy Policy (Analytics, Ads, Site Kit)
- Payment processor privacy policy (provided at checkout)
- Social media platform privacy policies (for embedded content/share buttons)
16. Regional Disclosures
16.1 European Economic Area / United Kingdom (GDPR/UK GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA or UK, the legal bases for our processing are set out in Section 4, and you have the rights described in Section 10, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
16.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2, used and disclosed for the purposes described in Sections 3 and 9. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration; to the extent our advertising cookies constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, you may opt out as described in Sections 5.3 and 10. California residents have the rights described in Section 10 and may designate an authorized agent to exercise these rights.
16.3 Other U.S. States
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (e.g., Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others as they take effect) have rights similar to those described in Section 10, which we honor consistent with applicable law.
16.4 Other Jurisdictions
If you are located in a jurisdiction with its own data protection framework (e.g., Canada’s PIPEDA, Brazil’s LGPD, Australia’s Privacy Act), we aim to honor equivalent rights and will respond to requests consistent with applicable local law.
17. Do Not Sell / Share My Personal Information
To opt out of the sharing of your information with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising (to the extent applicable), you can:
- Reject non-essential cookies via our cookie consent banner; or
- Use the Google Ads opt-out and Global Privacy Control tools described in Section 5.3; or
- Email privacy@techietory.com with the subject line “Do Not Sell/Share My Information.”
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. We will post the revised Policy with an updated “Last Updated” date, and for material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (e.g., a Site banner or email to registered users). Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
